My experience: I rented a car for a week. They couldn't get the rate right but charged my card what the guaranteed rate was and said they would fix it on there end. A month after I returned the car I got a bad debt letter in the mail saying I owed 284 dollars. This took 2 weeks of calling to resolve this issue. This is one of the several bad experiences I have had here.

Car was not cleaned, dirty with trash from previous renter. In the paperwork it was signed out with a full tank of gas, vehicle only had a quarter tank of gas. Additionally charged $5+ for roadside assistance we did not request, told the agent we did not want it and was assured we would not be charged, guess what we were charged for... All three items were minor however the fact they all happened on the same rental combined with poor customer service means I won't be returning to this rental service.
Let me start by saying this hertz has gone down hill the last couple years. They have the worst customer service ever. I rent from hertz pretty often and haven't ever seen one like this. After all they have this on their website,

I have been traveling a lot to this location and the only trouble I have ever had is with the other customers. I have had trouble with my reservations usually because I did not read all the info, or I was in a rush at the time I made that reservation, but the staff there is always really helpful. I just called now forgetting the time I came in was later than their hours of operation and they told me they will stay open later for me. They Are helpful. They Do answer their phones, and I really appreciate their service.
The car ran out of power steering fluid and was low on oil. I had to return it to a different location. I was told to drive the car 8 miles to the location after they were informed the power steering was not working. After 30 minutes on the phone, I was able to convince the company to send a tow truck. Instead of putting the rental car on the tow truck to drop-off at my location, they told me I had to ride in the tow truck to the location in order to exchange the car. Also, when picked up the car had 3/4 of a tank of gas and I was told to return it full.
On 10/17 my husbands flight was canceled twice, flying from Portland Oregon to Asheville North Carolina. Needless to say, he had a very long day. I called enterprise, but they were closed. I then called Hertz where I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Sergiy. I cannot even put into words how helpful and kind and patient he was with me. I was frazzled by the time I spoke with him, and he was so calm and told me he would help me and wait for my husbands flight to land so he would be able to get a rental car. Bottom line is he went above and beyond his job "duties" and he really touched my heart. I will forever be grateful for him as a decent, caring human being. Hertz now has my business for life.
